This Privacy Policy explains how MyKamus handles information when you use the MyKamus website and mobile applications. You do not need to create an account to browse dictionary entries.
Information collected automatically
When you use MyKamus, we and our service providers may automatically receive technical and usage information, including your IP address, browser or device type, operating system, app identifier, advertising identifier, pages or screens viewed, referring page, approximate location derived from your IP address, dates and times of access, ad interactions, and diagnostic information.
Cookies and similar technologies
The website and its partners may use cookies, web beacons, pixels, local storage, IP addresses, and similar technologies. Mobile apps may use advertising identifiers and other device identifiers that perform functions similar to cookies. These technologies help operate the service, remember preferences, measure traffic and advertising, prevent fraud and abuse, and provide or personalize content and advertisements where permitted.
Google Analytics and advertising
MyKamus uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the service and may use Google AdSense on the website and Google AdMob in mobile apps to display advertisements.
Third-party vendors, including Google, may place and read cookies in your browser or use web beacons, IP addresses, mobile advertising identifiers, and similar technologies to collect information as a result of ad serving. Google and its partners may use advertising cookies or identifiers to serve ads based on your visits to MyKamus, other websites, or apps. Learning progress
If you use MyKamus Learn, saved words, review history and spaced-review dates are stored in your browser's local storage on that device. MyKamus does not provide an account sync service for this information in the current version. You can remove it by clearing site data in your browser.
Learning analytics events record feature actions and scheduling metadata, such as whether an answer was marked correct, but do not include the answer you typed or the saved dictionary word.
Your choices
You can manage or opt out of personalized Google advertising through Google Ads Settings. You can also restrict cookies through your browser settings and reset, delete, or limit use of your mobile device's advertising identifier through its privacy settings. Where required by law, MyKamus or its advertising partners will request consent before using information for personalized advertising. Withdrawing consent does not prevent non-personalized ads from being shown.
Information sharing
Information may be shared with service providers that support hosting, analytics, advertising, security, and service operation; when required by law or valid legal process; to protect the rights, safety, and security of MyKamus, its users, or others; or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or transfer of the service. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies where applicable.
Data retention and security
Information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Third-party providers determine their own retention periods. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.
Children's privacy
MyKamus is a general-audience dictionary service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction of certain personal information, or to object to or withdraw consent for certain processing. To make a request, contact us using the address below. We may need to verify your request and may retain information where permitted or required by law.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our services, providers, or legal obligations change. The revised policy will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
